The Pediatric Surgery & Pediatric Urology Department at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) provides comprehensive surgical care for newborns, infants, children and adolescents with a wide range of congenital and acquired surgical and urological conditions.

Our multidisciplinary team provides expertise across general pediatric surgery, neonatal surgery, pediatric urology, minimally invasive surgery and pediatric surgical oncology. Working closely with pediatric specialists, neonatology, anesthesia, intensive care, radiology and other multidisciplinary teams, we provide coordinated, family-centered care from diagnosis through treatment and recovery.

In collaboration with Corniche Hospital, the department supports the management of complex neonatal surgical conditions from birth onward. Through SKMC’s strategic collaboration with Cincinnati Children’s, we continue to strengthen specialized pediatric care, clinical knowledge exchange and multidisciplinary expertise.

Pediatric Neurology

Pediatric neurology department in SKMC is dedicated to diagnosing, treating, and managing neurological disorders in infants, children, and adolescents. The department offers comprehensive diagnostic evaluation. Advanced neurophysiological monitoring includes long-term video-EEG monitoring for epilepsy evaluation, comprehensive seizure management, including ketogenic diet programs, vagal nerve stimulation, and evaluation for epilepsy surgery. We provide treatment of neuromuscular conditions incorporating genetic therapies and coordinated rehabilitation. We treat cerebral palsy, dystonia, tics, and Tourette syndrome, often utilizing botulinum toxin injection, intrathecal baclofen pump and SDR surgery. The team works closely with paediatric critical care to provide specialized management for status epilepticus, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and encephalopathy.
