Care for Complex Medical Conditions with a Multidisciplinary Approach
The Internal Medicine Division at SKMC provides specialized care for adult patients with complex and undifferentiated medical conditions. The division manages general medical patients and offers consultative services for surgical and cardiac patients. With a multidisciplinary approach, SKMC delivers high-quality care through its well-structured inpatient, outpatient, and consultation services, ensuring timely diagnosis, comprehensive treatment, and coordinated follow-up.
SKMC integrates a multidisciplinary team approach to provide early, comprehensive care for adult inpatients, ensuring timely investigations and appropriate management.
SKMC offers specialized units such as high-dependency medical units, a medical assessment unit, and short-stay and general medical wards to accommodate a variety of patient needs.
SKMC provides co-management and perioperative care for high-risk surgical patients, enhancing outcomes and reducing complications.
The division operates a range of specialized clinics, including anticoagulation, pre-operative, thrombosis, and geriatrics clinics, to address diverse medical needs.
The acute care clinic within the emergency department assesses and manages medical patients who require observation or short-term care, reducing unnecessary hospital admissions.
SKMC continues to advance internal medicine services by implementing innovative models of care and utilizing cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic approaches:
A 21-bed monitored unit providing expedited multidisciplinary review, prioritized investigations, and early disposition planning for all medical admissions.
A 30-bed unit, including 15 high-dependency beds, for patients with an expected length of stay of up to 5 days.
Located within the emergency department, this clinic evaluates and manages medical patients who do not require inpatient admission or need short-duration observation. It also serves discharged patients who need further follow-up or management.
A dedicated clinic for assessing and optimizing the medical status of high-risk patients before surgery, reducing the risk of perioperative complications.
Including rapid-referral, thrombosis, and geriatrics clinics, these services address the needs of specific patient populations and ensure seamless follow-up care.
