At the Adult General Surgery Department of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, we deliver high-complexity surgical care across a broad spectrum of general and abdominal conditions, including acute care surgery and trauma. As a designated Level II Trauma Center, our team is equipped to provide rapid, expert intervention in life-threatening emergencies.

Our services span elective, urgent, and emergency procedures, supported by cutting-edge surgical technology and a multidisciplinary model that integrates surgeons, intensivists, radiologists, and rehabilitation specialists. As active participants in the NSQIP (National Surgical Quality Improvement Program), we are committed to continuous outcome monitoring and quality improvement, ensuring our patients receive care that is safe, evidence-based, and internationally benchmarked.

Minimally Invasive & Abdominal Surgery

  • Laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant abdominal conditions
  • Complex abdominal wall hernia repair and reconstruction (open and laparoscopic)
  • Thoracoscopic sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis (innovative treatment for palmar and plantar excessive sweating)

Gastrointestinal & Colorectal Surgery

  • Upper gastrointestinal surgery
  • Colorectal surgery, coloproctology, and pelvic floor procedures
  • Upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, including complex polypectomy

Pelvic Floor & Anorectal Diagnostics and Treatment

  • High-resolution anorectal manometry
  • 3D endoanal ultrasound
  • Dynamic pelvic floor ultrasound for outlet-type constipation
  • Chemo-denervation for functional pelvic floor disorders, including:
    • Internal anal sphincter spasm
    • Puborectalis syndrome

Hernia Surgery & Abdominal Wall Reconstruction

  • Comprehensive hernia care including primary, incisional, and recurrent hernias
  • Complex abdominal wall reconstruction using open, laparoscopic, and hybrid techniques

Hepatobiliary Surgery

  • Complex hepatobiliary resections and reconstructions for benign and malignant conditions

Acute Care & Trauma Surgery

  • Acute care surgery and emergency surgical interventions
  • Trauma care (Level II Trauma Center) with ATLS-certified surgeons

Trauma & Acute Care Surgery

As a Level II Trauma Center, SKMC is recognized for its capability in managing complex trauma and emergency surgical cases. Our ATLS-certified surgeons lead an integrated response system for acute surgical care, grounded in decades of regional leadership in trauma services.

Minimally Invasive & Laparoscopic Surgery

We employ advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques for benign and malignant abdominal conditions, optimizing recovery and minimizing postoperative morbidity.

Pelvic Floor & Anorectal Diagnostics and Treatment

We offer specialized diagnostic pathways for functional pelvic floor and anorectal disorders, including high-resolution anorectal manometry, 3D endoanal ultrasound, and dynamic pelvic imaging. Treatment options include targeted chemo-denervation for selected defecatory and sphincteric dysfunctions.

Gastrointestinal & Colorectal Surgery

Our team provides comprehensive surgical management of upper and lower gastrointestinal conditions, from complex polypectomy to major colorectal resections, integrating endoscopic and operative expertise.

Hepatobiliary Surgery

We perform complex hepatobiliary resections and reconstructions for both benign and malignant disease, supported by a multidisciplinary framework that includes interventional radiology, oncology, and hepatology.

Our Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring that urgent medical care is always available whenever you need it.
