About Me

Dr Good is a medical graduate of Trinity College in Dublin and later trained as a Urological Surgeon in the UK. Dr Good’s career unites elite clinical performance, world-class research, and leadership in medical education. After completing Basic Surgical Training in Ireland, he ranked first nationally across the UK in competitive selection for Urology residency training. He subsequently undertook full-time academic research, earning a PhD from the prestigious University of Edinburgh focused on prostate cancer. His residency was carried out in one of the largest teaching hospitals in Urology in the EU where he had a large breadth of general and subspecialist training.

Following an intensive TUF/PS robotic uro-oncology fellowship, Dr Good has spent many years delivering highly complex robotic uro-oncological and reconstructive surgery, while maintaining a busy, high-volume general urological clinical practice. He practices the latest evidence-based urology and has been an early and enthusiastic adopter of advanced technologies for the treatment of prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and urinary stone disease.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Good is a recognised academic and research leader (large number of papers, book chapters and h-index 15). He has served as Principal Investigator for multiple large, practice-changing randomised controlled trials in urology, including the transformative PART trial in Edinburgh, where he performed the first focal High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) procedure in Scotland. He has also successfully secured competitive grant funding across a diverse research portfolio spanning oncological–engineering innovation, robotic surgery, and uro-technology.

Dr Good has published extensively in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, including practice-changing trials such as TRANSLATE. His scholarly contributions extend to authoring textbook chapters in leading references including Blandy’s Urology, and contributing to multiple educational modules for BJU International (BJUI) Knowledge. A recognised authority in medical education, he holds a Master’s degree in Medical Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Dr Good is a firm believer that surgery is a results’ driven speciality and audits his work rigorously always striving for improvement. He has also published is own outcomes from Robotic surgery in a prestigious British Urological Journal.

Taken together, Dr Good’s career reflects a combination of clinical expertise, scientific influence, and educational leadership, positioning him as an excellent contemporary Urologist.
