About Me

Dr. Rizwan Ahmed is a Consultant Cardiologist specializing in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, Inherited Cardiac Conditions, and Maternal Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, a Fellow of the Society of Cardiac MRI, and an active member of the European Society of Cardiology Working Groups on Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Pulmonary Circulation & Right Ventricular Function.

Dr. Ahmed trained in Cardiology in the East of England and completed specialized training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Barts Heart Centre, and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He also received advanced training in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance at the Royal Brompton Hospital. Before moving to Abu Dhabi, he served as a Consultant at University Hospital Southampton. His special interests include advanced cardiovascular imaging and hemodynamics in Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

He has contributed to several high-impact publications, covering topics such as complex congenital heart disease cases in the European Heart Journal – Case Reports, cardiovascular genomics research in Nature, pulmonary vascular resistance assessment in Radiology, and congenital heart disease imaging techniques in the British Medical Journal.
