I graduated from Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum in 1995. I started my career as a pediatrician after completing a Clinical MD in Pediatrics and Child Health and obtaining Membership of the Royal Pediatrics and Child Health (London) in 2004. I was fascinated by the science of Immunology, so I decided to pursue an MSc in Immunology of Infectious Diseases, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London in 2003- 2004. During the MSC, I was introduced to the specialty of Allergy and Clinical immunology: a very interesting and quickly evolving specialty. I therefore joined the specialist training program in Allergy and Clinical Immunology, obtained fellowship and certificate of completion of training (CCT) in 2012.
I worked as Consultant Immunologist/Allergist, Regional Immunology Service, Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, UK from April 2013 until joining Tawam Hospital in December 2015, as lead in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology. I have been the only Clinical Immunologist serving patients in SEHA. I started in SKMC in April 2024. I am responsible for the significant expansion of the Pediatric Allergy/Immunology service, now a tertiary referral centre for children as well as adults with Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders in the UAE. I also manage children and adults with various allergic conditions, and speak at conferences and meetings working on increasing awareness on primary immunodeficiency disorders and allergic conditions, locally and nationally.
I have various publications and presentations and am the main author on the first publication on primary immunodeficiency disorders in the UAE.
