About Me

Dr. Niaz Ahmad is a consultant transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi, and an honorary professor of transplantation at Dow University of Health Sciences, Pakistan. He previously served as a consultant surgeon at King Faisal Specialist Hospital, Jeddah, and St. James’s University Hospital, Leeds. With over 30 years of clinical experience, including more than 20 years as a consultant, he has performed or supervised over 1,200 organ transplants and played a pivotal role in promoting deceased donor organ utilization in the UK. His landmark kidney transplant from the youngest donor earned recognition from the Pride of Britain Awards and Guinness World Records in 2016.
Dr. Ahmad has extensive research contributions in ischemia-reperfusion injury, organ preservation, extended criteria donor organs, tissue engineering, and tumor biology. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, one book chapter, and numerous abstracts and presentations. He is also a reviewer for leading transplant and hepatobiliary journals.
